Respondent advocate

A challenge in producing official statistics is the need to balance the demands placed on respondents with the need for information. Statistics New Zealand have recently implemented two initiatives that will help achieve this balance. These include the appointment of a Respondent Advocate and the endorsement of a respondent load strategy.

The Respondent Advocate will work on behalf of respondents to independently review unreasonable survey demands whilst overseeing the initiatives included in the respondent load strategies which are aimed at reducing load and meeting the respondents reasonable expectations of Statistics New Zealand.
