Purpose
Electronic Card Transactions provide timely census information on debit and credit card spending with merchants based in New Zealand. These in turn provide information on consumer expenditure and economic activity in general.

Data is available at the national level for three levels of aggregation - total, retail industry and core retail industry (retail excluding motor vehicles).
These data series are published as:
- values: actual (unadjusted), seasonally adjusted and trend
- volumes: actual (unadjusted).
