In March, Alyosha Yashin, from Macleans College in Auckland, received the Statistics NZ Counting on Data Award in the Royal Society’s Realise the Dream competition.

Deputy Government Statistician Dallas Welch was delighted to present the award. "As an organisation we are passionate about information. Statistics NZ looks for best practice and innovation in its own work and is delighted to support the work of young New Zealanders who seek to do the same through their participation in Realise the Dream.” Realise the Dream is now in its fifth year. It recognises students who have undertaken excellent research or an innovative piece of work. A $2,000 prize is offered for the project that best demonstrates the use of statistics. |
